Advocacy
Long before Columbine and cyber-bullying, Greenbaum and the National School Safety Center produced the compelling Schoolyard Bullying Prevention Initiative. The multimedia campaign featured TV PSAs, the EMMY-winning documentary “Set Straight on Bullies” and a prevention guidebook. Public policy advocacy led to the establishment of legislation and new school policies. Of special note, the initiative launched with a high-profile practicum at Harvard University attended by the world’s leading authorities on “adolescent aggression.” By strategically branding the scholarly research as “schoolyard bullying,” the cause ignited a media firestorm, highlighted by ABC “20/20” news magazine’s live report from the event.
