EVOLUTION FAVORS PILOTFISH OVER SUCKERFISH

Could it be evolution is not so evolved? Some humans still closely resemble creatures of the ocean.

Consider these similarities. There’s the whale and shark; these big guys approximate seafaring politicians, CEOs and superstars, dominating their respective domains. And for each of the big guys, there are two familiar little guys. Remoras or suckerfish cling to the big fish like scavengers; the scaly yes-men and sycophants of the sea. Pilotfish, by contrast, use the big fish for protection but mostly lead them around in search of mutually beneficial opportunities, like entrepreneurs of the sea.

The point: If our counterparts in the ocean have taught us anything, it’s that evolution favors the leader more than the follower.
